Another "classic" in Japan but less famous in europe is Slam Dunk Smile

fruit basket and ouran are not so old :p
And sailor moon yes it's a classic... but old like dragon ball :p
It's because, in France, there's been a period where you could see all the animes in the late 80's beginning 90's. Anime like dragon ball, ranma, etc
That's why i consider them as classics ^^ less classic is after that with evangelion for example in anime (not mangas :p)

I think berserk is pretty classic. It's been around for something like 20 years and is still popular.

Slam Dunk!! One of the greatest manga I read... definitely a "classic" sports manga. ^^

Classics for me means manga/anime that were published like 20 years ago and are still read and popular and everything... I think this goes for most of Takahashi Rumiko's manga (Ranma 1/2, Maison Ikkoku, ...), and also Toriyama Akira's (Dragonball, Dr Slump). Another classic, that wasn't mentioned yet is Kenshin, I think...

Come to think of it, there aren't many "short" classics, aren't there? Most of them seem to have like 15 volumes at least (Slayers that was mentioned has less, I think...).

and Hana Kimi and Hana Yori Dango can be referred as classic shoujos

My favourite Mangas are also, Bleach, One Piece, Naruto, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, Fairy Tail, Nurarihyon no Mago, Kuroshitsuji etc...

However, if we're talking about classic mangas, I would say that CLAMP and Rumiko Takahashi could belong to that category since they're drawing mangas for many years already and still doing it.

Other classic mangas, which coming up in my mind, would be Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Rose of Versailles, and Doreamon.^^

I would count Ah! My Goddess, Arina Tanemura Manga and a lot of Clamp in it Very Happy
Not to forget epic (long) series such as One Piece~

But my recent addiction is Fairy Tail! It seems so promising, so I really hope it will belong to the classics one day as well ♪
