I've heard that's a good one. Not only for girls. Could you write your opinion after watching some episodes? I haven't watched anything for some time and now that this site reminded me of anime I'm thinking about starting something classical like Utena.

As you say, not only for girls, but watch out for some ambiguity from the characters (boys who like boys, who like girl... and stuff like that)
Nice music, epic sword battles... very surreal at times.

I can say Kaichou wa Maid-sama is really good anime :3 It's cute story with a lot of humor.
Bokura ga Ita is a moving anime about love. I love it. Hmm... I can say Special A is good too. There're a lot of great shoujo animes ^^

Fruits Basket, Ouran High School Host Club, Girl Got Game are some of my favorite! Love the storyline as well as the characters.

Lovely Complex is a good shoujo anime : it is very funny and easy to watch. I also like Toradora a lot (Taiga is so cute >o<) and Minami-ke.
If you like sports and shoujo, you should try Suzuka (manga by Kouji Seo) : the drawings are very nice, what's more the opening is good.
If you want to watch a good anime that is shoujo and shonen at the same time, I recommend you : Vision of Escaflowne (a MUST!! the OST (by Yoko Kanno) is VERY good!) and Code Geass - but if you don't like robot, mecha... then don't watch them xD
