Displaying non-Latin characters in-game?

So I've searched around the forum and Google and hasn't really found a thread that helped and thus am posting a new one to seek help.

Problem: Unable to display non-latin characters (Chi, Jap, Kor etc) in-game


My PC recognizes and is able to display such characters, and even in the menus while in-game they display correctly. It's only during actual gameplay that they show up as squares.
I am using the latest stable version 2020.4.0

(Displays fine in Notepad) I have tried converting to UTF-8 and UTF-8 with BOM just to make sure and neither worked



(Displays fine in-game)



(Only having problems during actual gameplay)

Have you tried changing the in-game lyrics font? Noto Sans works for me on macOS.
In UltraStarDeluxe, go to Settings > Lyrics > Font and try different fonts.

Alternatively, use Performous (1.2 RC released a couple months ago)
